Who We Are

Mil-Multiplier (milmultiplier.com) provides free military compensation calculators, education benefits tools, and career transition resources for service members, veterans, and military families. This site is independently operated and is not affiliated with the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, or any government agency.

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit this site, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices and rights you have — including your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA") and the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR").

Information We Collect

Calculators run in your browser. The pay grade, ZIP code, years of service, and other values you enter into our calculators are processed locally on your device. We do not transmit those inputs to our servers, attach them to your identity, or store them in any database.

MOS Translator. When you use the MOS to Civilian Job Translator, your input (MOS code, rank, certifications) is sent to a secure API proxy to generate career matches. It is used solely to produce your results and may be cached in de-identified form to improve response times. No account or login is required, and no name, email, or contact information is collected.

Analytics and advertising. Although the calculators themselves do not collect identifying information, two categories of third-party services on this site — analytics and advertising — automatically collect certain information from your device. Under the CCPA, some of this information (such as cookie and device identifiers, IP address, and browsing activity) is considered "personal information" even though it does not include your name. The categories collected are:

  • Identifiers — cookie IDs, advertising IDs, and a truncated or approximate IP address.
  • Internet and network activity — pages visited, time on page, navigation paths, referring source, and interactions with calculators and tools.
  • Device and technical information — device type, browser, operating system, and screen resolution.
  • Approximate location — general city or region derived from IP address, not precise GPS or street-level location.
  • Inferences — interest and audience categories that advertising partners may infer in order to show relevant ads.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, precise geolocation, or the values you enter into calculators. We do not knowingly collect or process sensitive personal information.

How and Why Information Is Used

Analytics data is used solely to operate and improve the site — identifying which calculators are most popular, fixing pages with high drop-off, and understanding which content is most useful. Advertising data is used by our advertising partners to display ads and, where permitted, to personalize and measure those ads. Displaying ads is how this free site is funded.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand site usage. GA4 sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) that expire after 2 years. GA4 does not log or store full IP addresses. Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. We do not combine analytics data with advertising data.

Opt out of analytics: Install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on, or block analytics cookies in your browser settings.

Advertising (Mediavine)

Advertising on this site is managed by Mediavine through its Journey program. Mediavine and its advertising partners (advertisers, advertising networks, and exchanges) use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to serve ads and — depending on your location and consent — to personalize ads based on your browsing activity across this and other websites. This use of identifiers for cross-context behavioral advertising is treated as a "sale" and/or "sharing" of personal information under California law (see Your Privacy Choices below).

Advertising is governed by Mediavine's Privacy Policy, and a current list of Mediavine's advertising partners and their purposes is available through the privacy and consent options on this site and within that policy. Survivor- and death-benefit pages on this site are intentionally kept ad-free.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.

First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The "help" feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.

Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.

The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:

  • IP Address
  • Operating System type
  • Operating System version
  • Device Type
  • Language of the website
  • Web browser type
  • Email (in hashed form)

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit National Advertising Initiative opt out page. You may also visit Digital Advertising Alliance website and Network Advertising Initiative website to learn more information about interest-based advertising. You may download the AppChoices app at Digital Advertising Alliance’s AppChoices app to opt out in connection with mobile apps, or use the platform controls on your mobile device to opt out.

For specific information about Mediavine Partners, the data each collects and their data collection and privacy policies, please visit Mediavine Partners.

Your Privacy Choices

You can control how your information is used for advertising:

  • Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information / Limit Use. Residents of California and other U.S. states with similar laws have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information.
  • Global Privacy Control (GPC). We honor the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or an extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for that browser.
  • On-site opt-out link. On pages of this site where ads appear, Mediavine's consent management platform automatically displays a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link to visitors from California and other U.S. states with opt-out rights. Selecting it opens a notice where you can opt out of targeted advertising and request deletion of data collected in connection with ad serving. (This page itself is intentionally ad-free, so the link appears on ad-supported pages rather than here.) Residents of regions that require opt-in consent for targeted advertising are asked for consent before such advertising occurs.
  • Industry opt-out tools. You can opt out of personalized advertising from participating companies via YourAdChoices (DAA), the Network Advertising Initiative, or, in Europe, Your Online Choices.

Opt-out preferences stored in cookies are specific to the browser and device you use, and may need to be set again if you clear cookies or switch browsers.

Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know the categories of personal information collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties it is disclosed or shared with (all described in this policy).
  • Access the specific pieces of personal information collected about you.
  • Delete personal information collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information (see Your Privacy Choices).
  • Non-discrimination — we will not deny you services, charge a different price, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised these rights.

We disclose identifiers, internet and network activity, device information, approximate location, and inferences to analytics and advertising partners for the purposes described above. We "sell" or "share" identifiers, internet and network activity, and inferences with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share the inputs you enter into calculators, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

To exercise your right to know, access, delete, or correct, email milmultiplier@gmail.com with your request and your state of residence. We will verify your request using information reasonably available to us, and you may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. To exercise opt-out rights, use the methods in Your Privacy Choices — no account or identity verification is required to opt out.

Your Rights in Europe and the UK (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Advertising and analytics that rely on consent are carried out only after you provide consent through the consent options on this site, and you may withdraw consent at any time. For data processed by our third-party providers (Google Analytics, Mediavine and its advertising partners, Cloudflare, Anthropic), please also refer to their respective privacy policies linked in this document. To exercise your rights, contact milmultiplier@gmail.com.

This site relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

Mediavine — advertising management. Subject to Mediavine's Privacy Policy.

Grow by Mediavine — an optional reader-engagement widget (bookmarking, sharing, and email subscription features). If you choose to create a Grow account or subscribe through the widget, the information you provide is collected and processed by Mediavine under Mediavine's Privacy Policy and the Grow Terms of Service. Simply visiting this site does not require a Grow account.

Google Analytics 4 — site usage analytics. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Opt out →

Netlify — website hosting. Subject to Netlify's Privacy Policy.

Cloudflare — MOS Translator API proxy. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Anthropic — AI career matching in the MOS Translator. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

Data Storage and Retention

We do not maintain user accounts, profiles, or a database of visitors. Calculator inputs are processed in your browser and never leave your device. MOS Translator queries are processed through a secure API proxy and may be cached in de-identified form. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Information collected by advertising partners is retained according to their own policies.

Browser Storage We Use

The site stores a small number of values in your browser's local and session storage so it can remember your preferences between visits. These values stay on your device, contain no identifiers, and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else:

  • mm_kofi_dismissed — the date you closed the support prompt, so we do not show it again for seven days.
  • mm_visits — a count of how many separate times you have visited, used only so the support prompt is not shown to first-time visitors.
  • mm_session_active — a marker that clears when you close your browser, used to tell one visit from the next.

You can clear these at any time through your browser's settings for site data; doing so has no effect on the calculators. Separately, our analytics and advertising partners set their own cookies and storage, described in the sections above.

Children's Privacy

This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date above. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
